How Does NSI® Aged Garlic Extract with Red Yeast Rice work?
Aged garlic extract is an extract of garlic bulbs fermented in a diluted alcohol solution for up to two years. This long-aging fermentation process breaks down garlic's sulfur-containing properties, creating an odorless substance rich in active bioavailable compounds.
One of these compounds, S-allyl-cysteine (SAC), is believed to promote healthy cholesterol levels. A derivative of the amino acid cysteine, SAC also demonstrates high antioxidant activity, giving it the potential to help protect healthy cells from the damaging effects of free radicals.
Red yeast rice is the fermentation by-product of a strain of yeast (Monascus purpureus) on cooked, non-glutinous rice. It contains fiber, rice starch and fatty acids, as well as compounds known as monacolins, which provide natural benefits for cholesterol health.
The majority of the body's cholesterol is produced in the liver, and elements in red yeast rice—specifically, a substance known as mevinolin—may effectively restrict its production. Red yeast rice also contains monounsaturated fatty acids that may help promote healthy serum lipid levels.
NSI® Aged Garlic Extract with Red Yeast Rice delivers an optimal 600 mg of aged garlic extract and 600 mg of red yeast rice per two-capsule serving.
Please note: Because red yeast rice functions similarly to statin cholesterol-lowering drugs, it may deplete the body's natural stores of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), a nutrient essential to cellular energy production. CoQ10 supplements are recommended for those taking red yeast rice for cholesterol-health maintenance.
NSI® Aged Garlic Extract with Red Yeast Rice is better because it:
Combines two cholesterol-health-promoting nutrients in one convenient supplement.
Contains high-quality ingredient, yet is available at an incredible value compared to other similar products on the market.
